Introducing Silvia São Paulo

Q&A

Sílvia is a Brazilian artist that focuses on graphite drawing that deals with emotions and feelings of the pressure and struggle of living in a social media-driven world.

How has the Pandemic affected your art and work practice? The Pandemic was actually an opportunity for me to give a real chance to my art career. Before that, due to the lack of time, I used to only draw and paint as a hobby. Now, working from home and having more flexibility, it is possible to dedicate and focus to it.

What influenced your art style? I have always admired very detailed and great technique artworks. This drives me to want to create hyper-realistic drawings. Regarding the concept of my drawings, it was influenced by my own experiences and by observing the others around me. In the society we live in, it is very hard to show vulnerability if things are not going well.

Explain your process. First, I choose someone with a face that fits my theme and the drawing to be done. Then, after already having a few ideas on how I want the final picture, I make a photo shoot session with the chosen person. I select the best photos, amend them in Photoshop until I´m happy with them and, finally, start drawing.
