Q&A

What role does your artwork have in society?

My hope is that what I am painting will give the viewer a sense of hope as well as resonate a feeling of empathy and beauty.

To express a spiritual yearning that is relatable. I hope to express the common view of humankind as spiritual beings having a physical experience on this journey together.

How true are you to your artist statement?

My statement remains essentially true. As I evolve as a painter and human being, my sense of purpose only becomes reenforced. I am always striving to illuminate the inner complexities of what in means to be human.

How has working with our community at PoetsArtists helped your career?

When I dedicated myself to pursuing my goal of making my art a priority and paint full time, I was so thrilled to find PoetsArtists and be among the incredibly talented artists and creators! Through PoetsArtists I have all the support I need to reach my goals, expand my audience and feel constantly inspired and motivated.

What artwork in history has inspired you the most?

There are so many influences that it’s difficult to narrow down. Some that stand out to me are Velasquez, Andrew Wyeth, and Edward Hopper. I love the empathetic sensitivity and masterful brushwork of Velasquez, the haunting exploration of the inner world of Wyeth, the Hitchcockian storytelling feel and vibrancy of Hopper.
