Interview Questions for Artists

SELF IMAGES

Send up to three new high resolution 300 DPI images of yourself in your studio or working area. These images should be new exclusive for our use. They will be used not only for your interview but also for use on our social media channels. Please do not post them on social media before the publication.

ART IMAGES

Send a high resolution 300 DPI images of your latest artwork. List where your artworks are available from so we may link appropriately.

BIO

Send a short narrative bio written in third person.

ONE SENTENCE ART STATEMENT

Describe your artwork in one sentence written in first person. This will be used as a pull quote.

QUESTIONS

Choose up to six of these questions making sure to keep the answer with the question. In other words do not send just your answers. Try to answer questions which you feel would describe your career and artwork best. Please do not answer all of them.

  • What is the impetus of your creativity?

  • How has social media changed your art practice?

  • Who or what influenced your art style?

  • What is your preferred medium?

  • Has AI changed your work?

  • What concept or narrative is behind your work?

  • What is your artist statement?

  • Do you ever venture out of your creative process to try out new things? 

  • Which was your breakthrough piece? Tell us more about it.

  • When did you first sell an artwork to a collector? What is the story?

  • Are you making a living from your art sales?

  • Do you work in a series or is each artwork an independent statement?

These interviews may be published online at www.33pa.net and/or APPLE NEWS and/or Artsy Viewing Rooms and/or PoetsArtists website or print publication. You will be sent links to where your interview is published. If your interview is selected for print, it will be mailed to a select group of art collectors from our database.

SUBMIT

Send an email with all of the above to didimenendez@gmail.com. You may attach the images or send a link to a Dropbox with the images or videos. The interview should have the questions along with the answers in a word or text document.

Social Media Video Interview Questions

If you prefer to have a social media video, please pick three questions from this video below and send your answers via video. Take a video of yourself answering the questions and send the clips to the same email address above. Make sure to include in the body of the email which questions you answered. Make sure you are in a well lighted room when answering the questions and have some of your artwork in the background.

Leigh Brooklyn was born outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Brooklyn enrolled into the Columbus College of Art and Design. Later she transferred to The Cleveland Institute of Art after being inspired by the work of forensic artists who helped in a missing-person’s case. There she earned her degree in Biomedical Illustration. Brooklyn worked with several hospitals, museums, and research facilities including the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, The Cleveland Botanical Gardens, The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and Case Western Reserve University.
